When to Submit:
In winter 2024-2025, we're accepting entries for our 2025 fiction contest. The winners will be published in Issue 57, which will come out in late spring/early summer 2025. 

Our submission dates are: 

2025 fiction contest: Saturday, November 30, 2024 – Sunday, March 2, 2025

We are currently closed for general submissions, both fiction and nonfiction. Please check back in summer 2025 for an update on our submissions windows for Issue 58.

Print Issue Orders:

Our current issue is Issue 56. You can read it online at www.storyquarterly.org. The print edition of Issue 56 is expected to be available by late summer or early fall of 2024.

We will be accepting entries for the StoryQuarterly Fiction Prize through March 2, 2025. The winner will receive $500, and the winner, first runner-up and second runner-up will be published in StoryQuarterly Issue 57 (publication in 2025). We are looking for previously unpublished work up to ~6,250 words. 

Our contest judge is Rachel Heng. Rachel is the author of two novels, Suicide Club (2018) and The Great Reclamation (2023). The latter won the New American Voices Award and was a finalist for the Singapore Literature Prize and the Libby Book Award. It was also named a New York Times Editors’ Choice and a Best Book of 2023 by TIME Magazine, The New Yorker, Amazon Books, Town & Country Magazine, Kirkus Reviews, a Sarah Selects Amazon Book Club and an April 2023 Indie Next pick. Her work has been published in The New Yorker, McSweeney’s Quarterly, Best New Singaporean Short Stories, The New York Times, The Atlantic, Esquire, and elsewhere, including here at StoryQuarterly (Issue 52). She has received grants and fellowships from the National Endowment of the Arts, Fine Arts Work Center, Sewanee Writers’ Conference, Vermont Studio Center, Hedgebrook, Kenyon Review Writers Workshop and the National Arts Council of Singapore.
