Our submission dates for Issue 59 (publication in 2027) are:
Fiction general submissions: Saturday, August 22, 2026 – Sunday, November 22, 2026
No-fee submissions (fiction and nonfiction): Saturday, September 5, 2026 – Sunday, September 20, 2026
Nonfiction general submissions: Saturday, August 22, 2026 – Sunday, January 31, 2027
2027 fiction contest: Thursday, November 26, 2026 – Monday, March 1, 2027
Print Issue Orders:
Our current issue is Issue 58. You can read the entire issue online at www.storyquarterly.org, or if you'd like a print copy, they should be ready in September 2026 and will be available to order here at that time.

General nonfiction submissions open August 22, 2026 and close January 31, 2027. We are looking for previously unpublished work of about 6,250 words or under. We are open to excerpts of longer works, but they must be readable as stand-alone pieces. Please double-space submissions. Accepted work will be published in StoryQuarterly 59, with an anticipated spring/summer 2027 release.
Please only submit one piece per reading period. Additional submissions will go unread.
